Combination Monoprints and Linoprints

Printmaking is a very old art form that date backs to c. 3000BC! It includes engraving, woodcuts, textile printing, linoprinting, monoprinting….the list goes on!

I few years ago I did a course in printmaking and it really opened my eyes to these amazing techniques I would never have known otherwise. One of my favorite was combining two of these techniques; monoprinting and linoprinting. You don’t need fancy equipment like a printing press to do these two forms of printmaking. You can do it right at home with just a few supplies from your local craft store or Dickblick online.  Speedball makes great entry level tools, ink and carving blocks which are much easier to carve than the traditional linoleum and Gelli Arts has a great monoprinting plate in various sizes. These are also available at Dickblick. Here are a few of the prints I did.

My favorite prints are the first two monoprints. This is worthwhile exploring further. Maybe I will even do a few tutorials!
